Dental Bonding

At Waterfields Dental Clinic we may recommend cosmetic bonding to help fill a space between teeth or even to level disproportionate teeth.

Most often, bonding may be recommended for cosmetic purposes, to improve the appearance of a discoloured or chipped tooth. Composite resin is used in bonding, as it can be used to shape and polish the area to match your natural teeth.

How does the bonding procedure work?

During the bonding procedure, a resin is applied to the tooth using a high-intensity light. Once the resin is applied, the bonded resin is sculpted to your teeth and polished.

This procedure helps to make the teeth look natural. The bonding procedure takes about 30 - 60 minutes per tooth to complete.

What is bonding used for?

  • To fill cavities and restore decayed teeth
  • To fix discoloration and change a tooth’s shape
  • To repair chips or cracks and close gaps between teeth
  • To protect the tooth root from exposure from a receding gum line.
